Application Guide

How to Use Base

Mix Design
+
  • Standard: 1 part Zeorich Base : 4 parts Zeorich Basalt by weight
  • Add 10–20% Zeorich SBR by volume of water for improved performance
  • Ensure all components are measured accurately for consistent results
  • Do not use river sand — Zeorich Basalt is specifically graded for this system

Surface Preparation

  • Substrate must be clean, sound and free from dust and standing water
  • Hack or scarify existing concrete if bond is required
  • Prime porous or dusty surfaces before pouring screed
  • Install movement joints every 3–5m in large areas
03
Mixing
+
  • Add Zeorich Base and Basalt to clean water in drum or paddle mixer
  • Mix until homogeneous with no dry pockets
  • Add Zeorich SBR admix to mixing water for enhanced performance
  • Use within the workability window — do not re-temper with water
04
Laying Screed
+
  • Pour and spread to required depth — minimum 25mm, recommended 40–50mm
  • Level and compact using a screed board and tamper
  • Float to required finish using steel or wooden float
  • Cover with polythene sheeting and cure for minimum 7 days

Curing & Tiling
+
  • Keep moist and covered for minimum 7 days
  • Allow full drying before tiling — moisture content below 75% RH
  • Tile with Calcibond Flex or Calcibond Advance adhesive
  • Do not lay tiles on green or damp screed

Temperature

Ideal working temperature +5°C to +35°C. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures during application.

Surface Prep

Always ensure the substrate is clean, dry and structurally sound before application.

Coverage Check

Lift a tile to verify adhesive coverage — minimum 65% floor, 80% exterior and wet areas.

Working Time

Mix only what can be used within the pot life. Do not add water to extend working time.

⚠️

Always use Zeorich Basalt (not river sand) with Zeorich Base. Mix ratios must be strictly followed — incorrect ratios will compromise screed strength.
