SBR styrene-butadiene rubber admixture — add to cement-sand mortar or existing adhesive to dramatically boost bond strength, flexibility and waterproofing performance.
What Makes Latex
Stand Out
SBR styrene-butadiene rubber admixture — add to cement-sand mortar or existing adhesive to dramatically boost bond strength, flexibility and waterproofing performance.
Dramatically increases bond strength of OPC mortar and adhesive — can boost tensile adhesion by up to 50% vs standard mortar.
SBR polymer network adds flexibility to rigid mortars — reduces cracking and improves resistance to thermal and structural movement.
Creates a waterproof barrier in cement mortar — ideal for use in wet areas, pools, bathrooms and water features.
Compatible with all Calcibond adhesives and standard Portland cement mortar — one bottle enhances many different mixes.
Excellent bonding agent for repair mortars — use as a primer or admix for concrete repair, patching and levelling.
Simple liquid admixture — just replace part of the water in your mix with Calcibond Latex. No special equipment required.
Significantly extends the service life of mortar and tile beds — reduces maintenance and callbacks.
Use as a mortar admix, bonding agent, screed additive or primer for difficult substrates.
Technologies
Up to 50% improvement in tensile adhesion over plain OPC mortar
SBR forms a waterproof matrix within the cured mortar
Adds flexibility to reduce cracking and thermal movement failure
Works as admix, primer or bonding agent across many applications
Where Latex Performs
SBR-modified mortar beds and tile adhesive for pools and water features
Concrete repair, patching and restoration mortars with superior bond
Primer for glazed surfaces, metal and other difficult-to-bond substrates
Waterproof mortar beds in bathrooms, showers and wet rooms
Improved screed mixes — use with Zeorich Base or standard OPC
Bonding agent applied neat to substrate before fresh mortar
How to Use Latex
- Replace 30–50% of mixing water with Calcibond Latex
- Mix with cement and sand in normal way
- Achieve consistent lump-free mix
- Apply within pot life — do not re-temper
- Apply Calcibond Latex neat or diluted 1:1 with water to substrate
- Allow to become tacky (approx. 15–20 min)
- Apply fresh mortar or adhesive onto tacky surface
- Do not allow to fully dry before applying mortar
- Add 10–15% Calcibond Latex by weight of adhesive powder
- Mix adhesive with Latex-water mixture instead of plain water
- Achieves S1 flexibility in standard C2 adhesive
- Follow standard application instructions
- Surface must be clean, sound and free from contamination
- Roughen smooth concrete or existing tiles before application
- Remove any standing water before applying bonding agent
- Spread or apply with brush, roller or spray depending on use
- Work in sections — do not allow bonding agent to dry before applying mortar
- Clean tools immediately with water while fresh
Ideal working temperature +5°C to +35°C. Avoid applying in direct sunlight or on very hot surfaces.
Work within the pot life after mixing. Use T class extended open time for large or complex layouts.
Match notch trowel size to tile format — 6mm for small tiles, 10–12mm for large format tiles.
Lift a tile to verify adhesive coverage — minimum 65% for floors, 80% for exterior and wet areas.
Do not pre-wet the substrate with water. Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from contamination before applying adhesive.
