How to Use Jewels
- Check that all tiles or stone are properly fixed and not sounding hollow — repair any hollow areas first
- Ensure joints are clean and free from all dust, oil, grease and cement particles
- Use a vacuum cleaner, blower or brush to clear joints thoroughly
- For highly absorbent or rough tile surfaces, test a small area first for discolouration before proceeding
- If tiles are rustic or uneven, apply grout to joints only (not the full surface) to ease cleaning
- Mask tile edges with masking tape if needed for a clean joint line
- Mix Part A (hardener) & Part B (resin) of Epoxy Grout in the correct ratio using a slow-speed electric stirrer
- Add Part C (colour powder) to obtain the desired working paste consistency
- Once all 3 parts of Epoxy Grout are mixed thoroughly, add Jewels powder at 1–3% by weight of the mixed epoxy grout
- The percentage of Jewels determines the intensity of the glittering effect — start at 1% and increase for more sparkle
- Mix until Jewels are evenly distributed throughout the grout paste — no dry pockets
- Adjust final consistency with Part C (colour powder) if needed after adding Jewels
- Open the C&L Crystal Grout mono pack (Part A hardener + Part B paste)
- Mix Part A into Part B in the correct ratio (1:14) using a slow-speed electric stirrer until a homogeneous paste is obtained
- Once Crystal Grout is fully mixed, add Jewels powder at up to 1% by weight of the Crystal Grout — do not exceed this ratio
- Mix until evenly distributed — the translucent Crystal Grout will now carry the metallic glitter for a spectacular shimmering effect
- Use the mixed material within the pot life period — do not re-mix or add water
- Apply the Jewels-enhanced grout mix into joints using a rubber grout float at 45° angle
- Press firmly to fill joints completely — ensure no voids or gaps
- Follow the full grouting process prescribed for C&L Epoxy Grout or C&L Crystal Grout respectively
- Remove excess from tile surface promptly with a barely damp sponge — work diagonally
- Final clean with water and sponge to achieve smooth, shiny metallic joints
- Remove masking tape (if applied) before grout fully sets
- Store Jewels in the original moisture-proof bottle with lid tightly closed
- Keep in a clean, dry, contaminant-free environment — Jewels does not expire under these conditions
- Do not mix with water, solvents or any material other than C&L Epoxy or Crystal Grout
- Partial use is fine — seal the bottle and store for future use without quality loss
Start at 1% with Epoxy Grout for a subtle shimmer. Increase to 2–3% for a more dramatic metallic effect. With Crystal Grout, never exceed 1% to maintain transparency.
Work between +5°C and +35°C. Avoid hot surfaces or direct sunlight — let surface cool before grouting. Hot surfaces compromise epoxy grout performance.
Always mix with a slow-speed electric stirrer — manual mixing compromises even distribution of Jewels particles and may reduce the final glitter effect.
On absorbent tile surfaces, always test a small patch first. If discolouration occurs on the tile face, stop and consult Wallnut technical support before continuing.
Jewels is not for external use — UV exposure may affect metallic appearance over time. Use only with C&L Epoxy or Crystal Grout systems at the specified dosage. Exceeding the ratio may affect grout performance.
